I don't mean to be dramatic, but this is literally the worst news ever.

Okay, I'll ease up with the dramatics.

But let's talk about this announcement Earth Eagle Brewery made recently on their socials:

What is happening to Earth Eagle's Portsmouth location?

At the end of this month, they will be closing their doors and focusing on their Somersworth, New Hampshire, location.

The heartfelt post goes on to thank the Portsmouth community for supporting them for the past decade. A farewell evening is in the works so keep an eye on their socials if you would like to raise a pint at the Portsmouth location one last time.

Breweries in Downtown Portsmouth:

Portsmouth is an adorable, walkable city with tons of amazing food and beverage options. However, the amount of breweries in downtown proper are few and far between. The trifecta of Loaded Question, Great Rhythm, and Liars Bench are some of Portsmouth's finest craft beer establishments but you can't say they are located DOWNTOWN.

As far as breweries that are located right downtown, Earth Eagle was kind of it.

Their vibe was impeccable:

Their outdoor beer garden was second to none:

Don't even get me started on their extensive glizzy menu. Whoever dreamed up those hot dog concoctions must have been A. brilliant or B. pregnant or perhaps both.

It's the end of an era

The OG location means so much to the Earth Eagle enthusiasts and will continue to hold a special place in all of our hearts. However, the silver lining is that brand and the beers will live on.

We wish them nothing but success as they shift their focus to their Somersworth location.

Will another brewery open in Portsmouth in its place?

Only time will tell. But the 3,000 square foot turnkey restaurant space will be available for rent at the end of the month.

We can only hope that something equally as amazing moves in. They have big shoes (and mugs) to fill!
