Over the holidays, it is not uncommon to have cases of the flu and respiratory diseases spike because of the number of get togethers we all have going on, but this past holiday season, a contagious form of Norovirus nicknamed the "winter vomiting disease" is spreading through New Hampshire and making it's way through the entire U.S.

The data gathered is based on people who actually seek medical attention.  This doesn't include your cousin Ernie who coughed all over everyone at Christmas dinner because he insisted he felt just fine.  Thanks, Cousin Ernie.

According to dhhs.nh.gov, this map shows where acute respiratory illness activity is within the state for the last week of December, 2025.

All but one County, Coos, shows "VERY HIGH" levels.

According to patch.com/new-hampshire, there are about 2,500 reported Norovirus outbreaks per year.  Health experts worry that the variant of last year's spike in illness could be the cause of this year's mutation.  It is highly contagious.

Here Are Some Symptoms of the Winter Vomiting Disease Hitting NH

The Mayo Clinic lists a few symptoms of this Norovirus including nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, loose stools, (ew) feeling ill, (duh) low grade fever and muscle pain. Sounds to me like you basically feel like dog crap on a stick.  (Where do we get these expressions?)

If you have any of these symptoms, please get yourself some help and above all, don't go into work or visit anyone or go to the grocery store and spread it around.  If you absolutely have to, wear a mask, Cousin Ernie.
