They say cats have nine lives and this story is making me believe that statement is true. You hear tales all the time about cats going missing and then MANY months later they resurface in a different state and it's like..WHAT THE HECK?! How did you get there?

This story stuck out to me because the main character is a cat named Crouching Tiger from New Hampshire.

Crouching Tiger went missing about eight months ago. I'm sure after not seeing their beloved furball for that amount of time, CT's owners had accepted the fact that she was most likely not coming home.

According to WMUR, the owners got a call from a shelter in Ann Arbor Michigan called the Humane Society of Huron Valley. They scanned Crouching Tiger's microchip. and she had traveled 700 miles from where she started. I'm sure CT's owners had to pick their jaw up off the floor!

How did a New Hampshire cat get to Michigan?

Despite her badass name, it's safe to say that Crouching Tiger did not travel halfway across the country by paw. She must have hopped aboard a vehicle of some sort and traveled most of the miles either by train or car.

I wish so badly that Crouching Tiger could tell us about her adventure from New Hampshire to Michigan so we could make a Disney movie about it.

Needless to say, this story wouldn't have such a happy ending if Crouching Tiger wasn't microchipped. She could be living with another family in Michigan and her owners would never know it.

Six reasons you should microchip your pet:

  • Permanent Identification: collars and tags can fall off or get lost but a microchip is forever and ensures a lasting form of identification.
  • Increased Chance of Reuniting: We hear stories like Crouching Tiger's all the time. Pets go missing and are found by people who bring them to an animal shelter, vet, or rescue organization where they are scanned. If they are microchipped the pet is then easily identified and the owners are contacted. REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD!
  • No Maintenance Needed: Tags need to be updated with your contact information, but a microchip contains static, permanent data. All you need to do is make sure your contact details are up to date with the microchip registry.
  • Prevents Theft: Believe it or not, people are out here stealing other people's pets. It's crazy to me. A microchip helps deter pet theft because it provides clear proof of ownership.
  • Required for Travel: If you want to do some traveling with your pet, some countries or regions require pets to be microchipped for travel.
  • Peace of Mind: It will just help you sleep at night knowing your furry bestie is properly microchipped in the even that they ever go missing. .

Have your pets ever gone missing? Were you able to be reunited because of microchip technology?
