Is This Pond the Cleanest, Purest, Bluest Water in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire is home to a ton of wonderful swimming holes. When you find a clean, gorgeous body of water, it is like a hidden gem.
Recently I wrote about two lakes that I thought were superior to Lake Winnipesaukee - to see those lakes click here.
But after reviewing those spots, another hidden gem popped up. One that I have never been to.
But the claim is what caught my attention.
Rumor has it, that East Pond in Thornton, NH is the purest, cleanest, bluest water in the Granite State.
And from this aerial view, the claim might have some truth to it - it's crystal clear.
No, this is not the Bahamas, this is New Hampshire.
This is probably a lesser-known body of water because the only way to get to it is to hike to it.
The trail is off Tripoli Rd in Thornton. The pond itself is about 1.5 miles into the hike. After that, you can turn around, or walk another 3.5 miles to reach the Kancamagus Highway.
Now I have never been to this pond, so I cannot speak to the clarity; however, I will say this area is gorgeous.
It is on the same road as Waterville Walley Ski Resort - which is one of the most beautiful areas of the White Mountains.
So you tell me, and I'll do my own investigating too, is this really the cleanest, purest, bluest water in New Hampshire?
