New England is the perfect home base for travel lovers, as there's so much to do in our region.

That's why when TheTravel shared a list of the best mountain vacations in the US, we were all ears. After all, given our region's natural beauty, we'd surely be featured, right?

According to TheTravel, these 10 selected destinations have something for everyone, whether you're looking for "rugged adventures, lavish resorts, charming US mountain towns, or peaceful solitude."

A second town snagged the tippy-top spot as the best mountain vacation destination in the country: Stowe, Vermont.

Yours truly has never been to Stowe, but has been meaning to pay it a visit. This charming village in the Green Mountains is famous not only for its namesake resort, but the countless activities visitors can enjoy throughout the year. There's something for everyone in this little town, from 100+ hiking trails to Main Street's cafes and boutiques, the historic Trapp Family Lodge, and of course, the countless skiing opportunities. It makes total sense why this place is considered a top vacation spot.
