5 of the Most Annoying Things to Say at a Craft Brewery in New Hampshire
As Taylor Swift once sang, "It's me. Hi. I'm the problem, it's me."
This is a public apology to the New Hampshire breweries (and one in Massachusetts) that I have asked these stupid questions to. Now I know better.
The craft brewery business goes way beyond brewing beer, it's a culture. Brewers from all over New England usually know each other and are fans of each other's work.
For example, if you are a brewery in say, Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard with the most excellent name of Bad Martha's Brewery and Tasting Room, chances are, you'll know the guy from Throwback Brewery in North Hampton, NH. It's kind of the same for any industry really. For example, I know a lot of radio people from across the country.

Like I said earlier, these are definitely annoying things that I have said, but for even more inspiration, I went to Reddit to find out what the staff would say or what they were really thinking. It did not disappoint.
Here are 5 Things Guaranteed to Annoy any New Hampshire Brewery
Annoying thing #1: "Do you have wine?"
Reddit response:
People get upset that we only serve beer, as we are a brewery. It's like going to a butcher shop for a salad. (Also) If I have to explain to someone that no, we can't "just make wine too" one more time, I'm going to lose it.
Annoying thing #2: "Can I have a food menu please?"
You're at a brewery. The menu changes based on what they have created for you. Sometimes, there is no food on that menu because you are at a BREWERY. Most places will have some sort of nosh either in the brewery itself or on a food truck just outside. It's a thing. Deal with it or go to a RESTAURANT, not a BREWERY and order the carbonara.
Annoying thing #3: "Do you have Bud Light?"
In my defense, I've never said that. I'm not a fan of Bud Light, but if you ask a local New Hampshire brewer if they sell Bud Light, they will tell you no. They sell Bud Light at the grocery store, not the brewery.
Here's what Reddit said about that:
"Do you guys have Bud Light?" "No, we're actually a brewery that brews all our own beers. I can give you something similar to try if you'd like." "You should really carry Bud Light." "Well we don't have the license to carry beers brewed outside our facility." "Then you should make Bud Light." I actually had this exchange with a customer once.
Annoying thing #4: "Just give me the highest abv one you've got."
ABV, alcohol by volume and yes, I had to look that up - does not bode well with the staff at the Brewery. If you are looking for a quick buzz, then go to a bar. A brewery is where they create something wonderful that they think you will enjoy. If you are just ordering based on ABV, then you are not appreciating their work. Annoying.
Annoying thing #5: "I don't see the beer on the menu that you had the last time I came in."
Here's what Reddit said about that:
One, we rotate beers a lot, and don't repeat much, so I doubt it. Two, you JUST looked at the menu and didn't see it. Do you think we keep kegs stocked away for one customer who is going to come in and ask?
You see what I mean about the brewery scene? It's a culture and if you don't like it or don't feel like you or your fake flannel you got at Talbots fits in, then go to CR's in Hampton and order your martini. They will know exactly what you want and hand you a food menu... because they are a restaurant.
