As you may have heard, Mother Nature waiting for the Thanksgiving holiday to give us some much needed precipitation on Thursday.

Right now, on Wednesday, according to Mike Haddad, Chief Meteorologist for WMUR, today is the day to travel.

Mike says that 5, 6, 7am thru 10am on Thanksgiving Day should be fine, the roads should be treated and precipitation will be light at that point.

In the afternoon, however, different story.  A heavy snow band is going to "set up shop" right around the Lancaster and Whitefield area down to Concord, bringing the heaviest snow of the storm.

Later that night, the storm is gone.

Here on the New Hampshire Seacoast, Mike is not anticipating any snow at the Seacoast, so if you're not traveling to other parts of the state, you should be fine.

Let's hear it for all the New Hampshire DOT workers who have to clear all the roads for us to get to our destinations safely.  Hopefully, they are able to spend some time with their families too.

Bottom line, if you are going North or West of the state, plan to travel early and stay late.

On top of the weather, be careful on the roads, as Governor Chris Sununu has issued a zero tolerance policy on impaired driving.

You may need to bring board games to keep you and your family occupied as you wait out the storm.  Or, plan to stay overnight at your relatives house.  If that thought is just inconceivable, as that guy in The Princess Bride says, just remember, it's just one night.  You might like hanging out with your relatives if you spend some quality time together.

Happy Thanksgiving!
