
Another Business at the Maine Mall is Closing Permanently
If you're a frequent Maine Mall shopper, you know that the beginning of any new year brings some change to the shopping destination.
In some years, maybe one or two stores close and are quickly filled with new retailers looking to make a mark.
In other years, there's several closures of known brands for a variety of reasons. Most of them having to do with finances.
For 2026, it has been a challenging year for some known brands at the Maine Mall. And it's about to become a little more challenging as another business will be closing their mall location permanently.
Orangetheory Fitness to Close Permanently at the Maine Mall in South Portland
The Orangetheory Fitness location at the Maine Mall in South Portland is planning to close permanently on April 10.
It appears to be part of a consolidation effort that is happening at many other Orangetheory locations across the nation.
The Maine Mall Orangetheory is inviting all current members to continue their fitness at the Westbrook location which is part of the Rock Row development.
Orangetheory Fitness initially opened at the Maine Mall more than seven years ago in what was once the Old Country Buffet space.
The Maine Mall Has Been Hit By Several Notable Closures in 2026
The Maine Mall has been faced with a string of store closures mostly in part to bankruptcies amongst well-known companies.
Leggings Home departed the Maine Mall at the beginning of the year. Francesca's and Eddie Bauer announced their store closures due to bankruptcy in February.
Now Orangetheory Fitness will leave behind another large vacancy that the Maine Mall will attempt to fill.
