Fryeburg Fair in Maine Returning to 8-Day Schedule For 2026
For the second year in a row, there's going to be a change with the Fryeburg Fair.
In 2025, the Fryeburg Fair delighted visitors by adding a day and welcoming more than 23,000 people through the gates of Maine's largest agricultural fair.
The additional Saturday allowed the fair to bring in new events, performers and people who could choose a weekend to visit Fryeburg,
But the decision to add a new Saturday didn't make everyone happy. And now, the Maine State Legislature has gotten involved.
Fryeburg Fair in Maine Will Return to Classic 8-Day Schedule For 2026
Shared on social media, the Fryeburg Fair announced on Monday that based on forthcoming legislation from the state, Maine's Blue Ribbon Classic would revert back to an 8-day schedule (Sunday to Sunday) for 2026.
The Fryeburg Fair shared their disappointment with the decision after a successful 9-day run in 2025. But the fair plans to adhere to the forthcoming law and promises to deliver the best agricultural fair you'll find anywhere in Maine for 2026.
A New Law in Maine Should End Future Disputes Between Fairs Over Dates
The Fryeburg Fair operated their first Saturday in 2025 as an "unlicensed" day, causing a dispute with the Cumberland Fair. That dispute boiled over into action taken inside the Maine State Legislature.
A new law that is fully expected to be enacted would prohibit all current and future agricultural fairs in Maine from operating on any "unlicensed" days.
That doesn't mean dates for fairs couldn't shift in the future only that they would need to be approved and licensed by the Commissioner of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry .
The Fryeburg Fair will officially run from Sunday, October 4 to Sunday, October 11 in 2026.
