Popular Wiscasset, Maine, Seasonal Joint Named One of the Best ‘Old School’ Restaurants in Nation
It's not a stretch to say the world of restaurants has changed over the last several decades throughout Maine, as well as the rest of the nation.
For a very long time in this country, the majority of restaurants were known for that one signature dish. Usually a comforting plate that would make your mouth water before you even arrived at your destination.
Over the years, what many restaurants offer has changed. Eateries from coast to coast want to cater to as many customers wants and needs as they can. Menus have changed, and signature dishes have expanded.
LoveFood decided they wanted to go old school, though. They searched across the nation to find restaurants still popular after decades in business because of their signature dish. Their choice for Maine shouldn't come as a huge surprise.
LoveFood named Red's Eats in Wiscasset as Maine's best 'old school' restaurant. It makes sense, as people flock from places around the world to visit the small shack on the coast for one of Red's signature lobster rolls.
During the height of summer, lengthy lines resembling something you'd see at Disney World can extend down the street as people wait to get their hands on a Red's lobster roll.
The lobster rolls have gotten become so notorious that celebrities have visited just to get their hands on one. Red's Eats has also been featured on multiple different national shows highlighting their signature dish.
Maine is lucky enough to be home to quite a few restaurants that have been in business for decades, serving up delicious meals to generations of families. There's enough of them to argue that most of Maine is an 'old school' restaurant state.
