One of Southern Maine's most underrated food joints is being nationally recognized.

The popular foodie website LoveFood posted an article about the best soul food in every state. The site chose the incredibly delicious Go See Tyce BBQ in Saco. The shop has been a local and tourist favorite since opening just a few years ago.

Go See Tyce BBQ is a step right into Jamaica, with its island classics like jerk chicken, curried chicken, meat patties, and rice and peas (beans). The shop might be small, but the food is big on flavors and seasonings. Plus, there are, like, 45 sides to choose from, including candied yams, incredible mac and cheese, and plantains.

Located right on Route 1 in Saco, Go See Tyce is basically between Funtown and Aquaboggan. It's an ideal location for those just getting out of a theme park, coming off the beach, or making the trek home from work. Just imagine a giant plate of homemade, fresh Jamaican BBQ waiting for you to devour when you get home.

Plan to eat in? Go See Tyce even has a little outdoor space to enjoy your food. Plus, you will be serenaded by Bob Marley and other great reggae stars, as the music fills your soul with island vibes.

Here is an excerpt from LoveFood on why they chose Go See Tyce as Maine's number one soul food spot.

This small spot is loved for both its food and the warm welcome it gives customers. Tyce's BBQ serves a Jamaican-influenced menu that provides a dose of soul food at its best...

I'm glad the service was mentioned, because it's hard to find better in Maine. Tyce herself will be waiting for you to come in. She loves to chat, explain the menu, crack some jokes, and just enjoy a conversation. Tyce absolutely loves what she does, and wears her heart right on her sleeve. It makes going there that much better.

Go See Tyce BBQ has become a destination. And as LoveFood says, it's the destination for the best soul food in Maine.

Congrats to Go See Tyce on this national recognition. Here's to more small Maine businesses getting the recognition they deserve.
