I really love pizza. It's unquestionably on the Mount Rushmore of comfort food. There's nothing like a few slices of pie while you do practically anything. Ballgame? Pizza. Party? Pizza. Funeral? Pizza. Doctor's Appointment? Pizza. It's always a perfect time for pizza.

Pizza is also extremely versatile. While people will always get behind the style they love, there's no "best" way, because every way is the best way. Whether you've got thin crust, thick crust, Detroit style, cracker-thin, Greek style, bar pizza, bagel pizza, pizza rolls, that weird fried chicken pizza from KFC, even on English muffins, nothing beats some dough, a little sauce, cheese, and toppings.

With having such a pizza addiction, it's good to know I have so many options around. We Mainers are also lucky enough to have local chains, House of Pizza's, and legendary mom and pop shops across the state. For such a small state, the variety is high.

Due to my obsession for pizza, I was curious to see exactly how big of a variety there is in Maine's largest city, Portland. Both Mainers and tourists have a tremendous number of options to choose from in just Portland alone. Below is a list of 52 of those options. From James Beard nominees to variety stores and food trucks, Portland has a lot of great pizza to be had by all.

I must say, I have been to nearly all of these pizza joints. I don't know if I should be proud, or if I should see my doctor.
