In the heart of Portland's Arts District is a little joint that has been cranking out delicious Mexican food for over a decade.

While it may not always get the attention that many well-known restaurants receive, it certainly still gets its fair share of national recognition, and that attention is well deserved. Folks, if you haven't been to Taco Escobarr yet, you are definitely missing out.

Taco Escobarr is One of Portland's Best Restaurants Overall

Located right on Congress Street in the Arts District, Taco Escobarr serves up tasty Mexican flavors and a wide variety of margaritas for the masses. It's the kind of place where lines spill onto the sidewalk most nights. Even lunchtime can be packed, but when the food’s this good, it’s well worth the wait.

So, just how good is the food? Well, one popular foodie site says it’s the best in the entire state. Talk about bragging rights.

That site is LoveFood, the massively influential foodie website. It recently put together a list of every state's best Mexican restaurant, which of course included Taco Escobarr for Maine.

Here is what LoveFood had to say about choosing Taco Escobarr as Maine's number one:

Taco Escobarr is a local favorite in Portland, as much for its fun and festive atmosphere as for its food. There are soft, crispy, puffy tacos, pozole (a brothy, flavor-packed soup), and giant portions of nachos on offer – all served in a bright, colorful dining room with a ceiling that becomes illuminated by multicolored string lights after dark.

Now, let’s talk about those tacos for a second, because these beauties have earned recognition of their own. The popular foodie site Eater included Taco Escobarr on its list of Maine’s best spots to snag tacos. That’s quite the compliment for Escobarr’s creative concoctions.

How Affordable is Taco Escobarr?

And if that wasn’t enough, Cheapism lauded Taco Escobarr for its incredible deals, including many items priced under $15. These include taco plates, quesadillas, tortas, nearly all of the appetizers, and even the massive burrito, basically two meals in one. Taco Escobarr’s budget-friendly menu truly has something for everyone.
