Augusta Women Drove to Portland, Maine, Five Times to Try This Food Joint
Portland, Maine, Restaurants
It's been highlighted more than enough times by journalists, news reporters, and just everyday residents and tourists from away while the season is in session -- Maine, and especially Portland, is flooded with some of the most delicious spots to eat ever.
Look no further than Monument Square and all within steps of each other, you can destroy delicious donuts at HiFi, bite down on juicy, flavorful burgers at Shay's, indulge in Italian and other cuisine at David's, and slam down mouthwatering sandwiches at Sisters and CERA.
One City Center, Portland, Maine
Not only is there plenty of action outside in Monument Square, but there's plenty as well in the same area, inside of the massive One City Center building that overlooks Monument Square. And on the bottom floor of the building is a locally run spot so delicious that it inspired, according to one of the owners, two women from Augusta, Maine, to make the trip down to Portland.
Five separate times.
Tic Tac O, Portland, Maine
Owned and run by quite possibly one of the most adorable married couples in all of New England (nevermind just Maine or Portland itself), Erica and George, Tic Tac O is an absolute gem and hot spot that is flooded with customers on the daily -- everyone from students at Portland High School on break and construction workers in the area, to other employees inside of One City Center and even visitors from out of town.
In fact, recently, Erica mentioned a story involving two women in Augusta that had heard Tic Tac O referenced both on the radio and from friends so many times, they decided to make the trek down to Portland to check them out first-hand.
Only problem? Four separate times they had driven down to Portland in search of the absolute lunch gold mine, only to not be able to locate it and drive back to Augusta unsatisfied and with empty stomachs.
However, they finally realized that it's located on the bottom floor inside One City Center, and on their fifth trip, finally satisfied their craving and said that it was more than worth the hype and they'd definitely be back.
And, quite honestly, food around the Old Port tastes good on its own. But when it's made by local, solidly good humans like George and Erica, it just hits different an even better.
If you know, you know. And if you don't, you should hit up Tic Tac O to find out and thank me later.
