Infamous Soup Nazi Character from ‘Seinfeld’ Spotted in New Hampshire

He's one of the most recognizable and quoted 1990s characters from one of the most iconic and popular 1990s television shows, and he was spotted in Epping, New Hampshire, on Monday night.

Based off real-life New York City soup restaurant owner Al Yeganah, who owned Soup Kitchen International in Manhattan (which later morphed into part of a chain of soup restaurants called The Original Soupman) and, according to an interview in The New Yorker in 1989, believed "the customer is always wrong and [he] is always right," Yev Kassem was a character that appeared in two Seinfeld episodes.

Affectionately known as "The Soup Nazi" both on the show and by fans, his infamous four-word catchphrase, "No soup for you!" has stood the test of time and has been repeated by Seinfeld fans since the episode first aired in November 1995.

On Monday night, the man who portrayed the iconic character, Larry Thomas, made an appearance at a popular pizza restaurant for a signing and meet and greet with fans.

Known for their delicious pizza and live entertainment and music, Telly's Restaurant & Pizzeria on Calef Highway in Epping, New Hampshire, has been a fixture for three decades, and played host to Larry Thomas' appearance in the Granite State on Monday night.

Larry was brought in by New England Picture Company, a Manchester, New Hampshire-based company known for setting up signings with athletes and celebrities, offering memorabilia for sale, as well as participating in various charity auctions.

From all accounts, Larry couldn't have been more opposite of his "Soup Nazi" character he portrayed on Seinfeld, according to Granite Stater Stephen Pappajohn, who attended the Telly's-hosted event.

He was super approachable, happy to be there, answered questions, smiled, and seemed genuinely appreciative of his fans.

Stephen also pointed out that Larry brought an elite-level sense of humor with him to Telly's, too.

I suggested we trade my Teen Center hoodie for his chef's smock after the event. He said 'too bad, it's in my other bag!'
