Maine’s Iconic ‘Trolley Cart’ Diner Earns Spot on ‘America’s Best Classic Diners’ List

Never pass up an opportunity to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner in a vintage trolley cart. It's so fun. Have you ever been to the icon of Biddeford breakfast places, the Palace Diner? It's the cutest little diner you'll ever see, made up of just "one car length's worth of patrons", according to roadfood.com Yes, this makes it extremely hard to secure a spot on a Saturday or Sunday morning, but if you can manage the wait time, I can promise you it's worth it. I've only been a few times on the weekends, and all I remember is the portions being of wildly delicious quality, and enough to take home for lunch the next day.

On this list that LoveFood curated of America's Best Classic Diners, both the Palace Diner in Biddeford and the A1 Diner in Gardiner, Maine, made the list. That's pretty cool, considering you don't see many vintage diners around anymore. I'm not shocked the LoveFood crew found a couple left in Maine.

If you can get one of the 15 total seats inside this cute red trolley, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that the food is worth the hype. LoveFood says that the Palace Diner was built in 1927, and is now one of the only two surviving Pollard diners in the country. If you needed a sign to try somewhere new this weekend, this is it.
