NASCAR Champion Coming to Maine for New Big Money Race
Oxford Plains Speedway is celebrating its 75th year in a big way.
WMTW reports that Maine's premiere short-track racing facility in Oxford, Maine, is adding a new big-money race. Did you also know Oxford Plains Speedway is Maine's biggest spectator sporting facility? It can hold over 14,000 people!
Which NASCAR champion is coming to the Speedway this summer?
Oxford Plains Speedway will be welcoming back NASCAR champion Kyle Busch!
Kyle loves coming to Oxford Plains. And he signed up for the new big-money race coming this summer. It's the first All That's Metal Celebration of America 300, happening July 2 and 3. They will speed around that 3/8 mile asphalt oval for 300 laps! Plus, it's got a big purse of almost $140,000 in total purse money. That makes it one of the richest asphalt short-track races in the country! The winner's payout is more than the Oxford 250 in August.
Will other NASCAR drivers be at the All That's Metal 300?
Yes! Along with two-time NASCAR Cup Champion Kyle Busch of Richard Childress Racing (number 41), there will be Daniel Hemric, the 2021 Xfinity series champion and current driver of the number 31 Cup series car for Kaulig Racing (number 4).
The 'King of Oxford' Mike Rowe will be in the All That's Metal 300
According to Racing America, Mike is considered the king of short-track racing in Maine, and proved it by winning the Oxford Championship Series Super Late Model feature last year at age 72. That was his first win at Oxford Plains Speedway since 2018, where he now has 126 Super Late Model wins and more than 150 total feature wins.
It's gonna be a hell of a summer at Oxford Plains Speedway!
