Magic of Christmas Returns for the 45th Year to Portland, Maine
Portland Symphony Orchestra's Magic of Christmas is a tradition.
The PSO is celebrating 100 years this season. The Magic of Christmas turns 45 years old and for some, it simply isn't Christmas without it.
When is the PSO's Magic of Christmas at Merrill Auditorium?
The first performances start with a preview on Friday, December 13 then run through the Sunday before Christmas, December 22. This is VERY popular and tickets go fast, so get yours today! It's beautifully composed music, singing and this year they have added Cirque de la Symphonie. Breathtaking performances by aerialists and acrobats are complemented by your 100-year Portland Symphony Orchestra, the Magic of Christmas Chorus, and the PSO Children’s Chorus. They will have nostalgic traditions (sing-along) and some surprises.
The Magic of Christmas Chorus and Children's Chorus return in 2024
The PSO Children's Chorus along with the Magic of Christmas Chorus will perform. Beth Eastman in her 43rd year with the chorus told the Portland Press Herald last year,
It just becomes part of your Christmas. It wouldn’t be Christmas without it.
Eckart Preu returns as your conductor and it will be an amazing evening with the Cirque de la Symphonie. If you thought that people flying through the air was super dramatic, wait until you see it with the Portland Symphony Orchestra and holiday music punctuating their moves!
The Magic of Christmas is a tradition for Maine families.
I have been in Maine for nearly 40 years and I have been to the Magic of Christmas for most of those decades. I adore this concert and feel lucky that Maine has such amazing talent to make you love the holidays even more.
