Maine Podcaster Shares Story Of Going onTour with Liam Payne & One Direction
On October 16, 2024, we lost a musical icon, Liam Payne formerly of the band One Direction.
You've seen all the news stories and the headlines so I'm going to leave that newsie stuff out of this blog out of respect for Liam.
This is about a really unique story from Kylie, a former Townsquare Media employee, fellow Maine native and current podcaster, who had a once-in-a-lifetime experience working very closely with the band.
In an interview, Kylie explained that she was chosen as the 1D VIP Tour Correspondent after a nationwide search, allowing her to join One Direction and tour sponsor Nabisco on the road for the Take Me Home Tour.
She worked directly with Liam when he was in his 20s and just getting his career off the ground.
"I brought the concert experience home for fans online, creating concert videos, blogging, and posting on social media," she said.
This boy band wasn't just a boy band. They were an outlet, a first crush, even mentors to many people for many years before they broke up and went their separate directions (no pun intended).
Kylie said her favorite part of the experience was meeting fans and surprising the most dedicated and excited Directioners at concerts with floor seats.
"Seeing their faces as we walked closer and closer to the stage from the nose-bleed seats was the best part of my job," she said.
It's very apparent Liam impacted many lives around him and the lives who listened to his lyrics.
Rest easy, Payne. Thank you for your musical brilliance.
