Anjon’s In Scarborough, Maine Reopens To Rave Reviews
One delay after another, but the day has come and Anjon's in Scarborough, Maine is open!
If you've heard that Anjon's was coming back last May, you heard correctly. John DiSnto was shooting for mid-June to open. He knew that would be hard, but gave it his best shot. He didn't quite make it and June came and went.
When they closed in 2019 after 65 years, they were very missed. In 2019, Anjon’s co-owner John DiSanto told the Portland Press Herald that increased competition in the area had put the squeeze on them. Plus, in 2017, the restaurant had a tough time with unpaid taxes. And on top of that, the family’s patriarch was seriously ill. But John decided it was time to bring the classic back!
What was the hold up with Anjon's in Scarborough, Maine reopening?
John said on his Facebook page that they had to delay the grand reopening because of final approval for the liquor license, and final inspection from Scarborough for fire and electric. They were also still hiring, a sticking point for many businesses. The second opening date of September 15 also was missed. People started to worry.

They had a great meal and left over stuffed bread makes a fine breakfast too!
