We all remember fondly or not so fondly, the time we spent in high school. Four years of our lives that was to prepare us to become adults. My son is in that position right now as he is a senior in high school and is set to graduate this June. It's still hard for me to imagine where that time went.

Maine has, in my opinion, a pretty good education system. With 126 high schools throughout the state, supported by 121 school districts, there are a lot of schools to keep an eye on. Some of them have over a thousand students roaming the halls and classrooms every day.

Of those 126 high schools, we took a look at just how many students attend those schools with the data from niche.com which shared their list of the top 25 schools in Maine with the most students.

• The largest high schools in Maine are measured by the number of students attending, not the physical size of the building.
• We aren't sure how recent this data is, but we assume that however old it is, it hasn't changed that much.
• Some of the schools with the most students are in rural areas and get high school student enrollments from the large number of towns that send their kids to that school.
