I'm never going to be a friend of traffic.

Traffic is a pretty subjective thing. I've always been so impressed by people that it doesn't seem to get to. There are folks out there, believe it or not, that really aren't rattled by traffic. They just literally go with the flow and cruise. Me? There aren't many things on Earth that annoy me more than other people driving cars.

The last few years, I've actually been using traffic as an exercise in patience. I've been trying to just ride along with how it goes, and be so concerned with being in first place all the time. Let's face it, Mainers aren't really awesome behind the wheel. We're aggressive and basically unafraid.

All that aside, some places are just no fun.

There are times when traffic is affected by as many environmental factors as much as anything else. Sometimes it's a headache of a rotary, or ongoing construction that just never seems to have an end in sight. Regardless, no matter how hard you try to avoid these things, you end up sitting watching a flagger checking their email for half an hour.

But where are the worst spots? Where are the spots around Maine that will drive just about everyone crazy, even the most patient drivers? A bunch of folks in a Reddit thread shed some light on where the nuttiest spots around Maine are. Some will seem blindingly obvious, like I-295 or getting in and out of Bar Harbor.

But there's probably a ton that aren't necessarily on the main drags that you won't know about, because you never travel these roads. But next thing you know, you'll be headed out to some country fair or something, and you'll get stuck on some rural highway that you had no idea was under construction.
