In Maine, no one is ever on-the-fence when it comes to snow.

I've lived here my whole life, and I've never met a single person without some extreme opinion about snow. I feel like it's something you either love or hate. I don't think Mainers simply tolerate snow. You either can't wait for it to snow, or you threaten every year, that you're going to pack it all up and go where it's hot year-round.

Maybe that's the secret sauce of Mainers. Keep a healthy negative attitude, and you've got nowhere to go but up.

On the other hand, I feel like the amount of people that actually move versus the amount that just never leave and bitch about until the end of time... Those numbers are almost equal. But there are also quite varied opinions on when the first storm might/should hit. Some want it by Christmas, others wish it would never come.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at the snow.

One thing we all have in Maine is a dry, if not dark, sense of humor. We tend to embrace the worst case scenario for just about everything. It'll never really partly sunny, despite what the weather man says. We'll always say that it's pretty cloudy. Or you'll get the one person who always says, "Who cares? No matter how sunny it is, it'll start raining the second I go outside."

So when it comes to thinking about when we'll get our first storm, it's always good to kind of embrace the worst case. If nothing else, you might be pleasantly surprised. Maybe that's the secret sauce of Mainers. Keep a healthy negative attitude, and you've got nowhere to go but up. Especially when it comes to crappy weather.

But anyway, let's dig into the "wrong answers only" from Reddit, or maybe even the Murphy's Law answers for the arrival of our first storm.
