Life Size Chocolate Moose at Len Libby Candies

The moose is huge. Its made from chocolate and weighs 1,700 lbs. It stands eight feet tall and nine feet wide.

The sculpture inside the store on Route 1 in Scarborough attracts visitors from all over for photos and selfies.

Sculpture Unveiled in 1997

It was unveiled in 1997 after four weeks of sculpting by the artist Zdeno Mayercak. He built the sculpture by applying chocolate to a wire lathe. Steel and armature were used for support.

Chocolate Mama Bear and Cubs

Alongside the Moose is a 380 lbs. dark chocolate bear with two 80 lbs. cubs. The mama bear is called Mama Libby and the cubs are named Cocoa and Chip.

Handmade Since 1926

Len Libby Candies has been a staple in Maine since it started in 1926. They make handmade fudge, chocolate and the famous Needhams.
