Pumpkin picking is one of my favorite fall activities and the time to start selecting yours is finally here.

Fall has been in the air and if my neighbors' porches are any indication, people are ready to start decorating for the season. Colorful fake leaves, corn stalks and of course pumpkins have been showing up in my neighborhood, but where do you go to get your supplies?

Sure there are pumpkins for sale at any supermarket these days, but in my opinion the best way to get one is to pick it for yourself.

Fletcher Farm seems to have it all with fresh produce, a farmstand and row after row of pumpkins you literally cut off the vine yourself. The pumpkin patch is also part of a larger dairy farm that offers hayrides through the grounds.

Much closer to the SouthCoast is Rhode Island's best offering according to Reader's Digest.

Their review research ranked Escobar's Highland Farm in Portsmouth the best spot for picking your own pumpkins in the Ocean State. Perhaps that's because there is also so much more to do than just choosing a few pumpkins.
