Maine Eatery Named Among America’s 15 Best New Restaurants

Eater has released their annual list of the 15 best new restaurants in America, and a Maine eatery is the only New England spot to make the cut.

Eater is a major digital media brand focused on reviewing food, dining, and restaurant culture.

They also offer local & city‑by‑city dining maps & guides, with detailed lists of recommended restaurants, bars, and food spots, which are often organized by neighborhood, cuisine, or a "theme"

What was their pick? Luncheonette, which opened this past June, at 147 Cumberland Avenue, in Portland

The spot, run by a chef‑owner couple, Angela Lee and Alex LeBlanc, has a cool concept, a fast‑casual/café experience, you simply order at a deli counter as you walk in.

Everything is made in‑house, including their sourdough loaves for sandwiches. They emphasize using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

Here are some of the menu highlights:

• Sandwiches, salads, small plates, designed so you can “try a little bit of a lot,” similar to a tapas style approach.
• Dishes like miso‑mushrooms with Maine kelp and inventive salads/sandwiches, that mix ingredients and flavors beyond standard lunch fare.
• They also serve coffee, pastries, and drinks, making it a perfect spot, for lunch, a pastry + coffee, or a casual adult beverage!

Because it’s new, relatively small, and focused on “walk‑in" service, it's ideal for a quick bite.
