This Mall in Maine Was Named the Best Mall in the State
While malls aren’t as popular as they were 20 years ago, we still love to show them some appreciation here in the Pine Tree State!

Malls aren’t just about shopping; they’re about experiences. They’ve always been a place where friends meet up, families spend time together, and people can browse, eat, and be entertained all under one roof. Unlike online shopping, malls also offer the instant gratification of seeing, touching, and taking home what you buy right away.
Now that we've got that settled, who decides which mall in any state is better than another, let alone the best in Maine?
Business Insider determined the best shopping mall in each state by analyzing multiple data sources. To compile their findings, they considered Yelp ratings, 'best-of' lists, and most-visited mall rankings. Despite the rise in mall closures, the article highlights that in-person shopping experiences still thrive in certain locations.
So, with that in mind, which shopping mall in our Pine Tree State is now being called the best in all of Maine?
According to Business Insider and their article, 'The Best Shopping Mall in Every State,' their pick for Maine’s top mall is—unsurprisingly—The Maine Mall in South Portland. Here’s what Business Insider had to say about their selection:
The Maine Mall rests in Maine’s retail district in South Portland, with stores like Apple, Hot Topic, Children’s Place, Forever 21, and more. It also houses large department stores such as Macy’s and JCPenney and is the largest mall in the state.
There you have it. As if it was a big surprise, the largest mall in Maine’s largest metro area is officially the best mall in the state.
What are your thoughts on The Maine Mall being named Maine’s best shopping mall? Do you agree? We’d love to hear from you! Join the conversation by messaging us on the app.
