Maine K-9 Police Officers Do Not Automatically Get Protective Vests

Like all law enforcement officers, K-9 Reece puts his life on the line every day at work, but while his human partner is equipped with a bulletproof vest, the K-9 vests are not standard issue.

Still, with help from a non-profit called Vested Interest, K-9 Reece has his very own vest, so he can stay safe while enforcing the law.

Vested Interest cares about law enforcement K-9s, who are often in dangerous, up-close situations with suspects. If they run up to a suspect who's armed with a knife or gun, it could be a life-threatening situation.

So Vested Interest donates bullet-and-stab-proof vests for law enforcement K-9s around the country.
