When it comes to restaurants in Maine, we're very fortunate to have hundreds if not thousands of different options. From down-home, locally-owned restaurants in almost every town to pretty much every national chain you can think of, Maine is home to some of the most diverse eateries in the entire country.

However, it's unlikely that there are any Mainers out there who have eaten at every single restaurant in the Pine Tree State. It's even more unlikely that most Mainers have visited restaurants that are literally in the middle of nowhere.

And that's exactly the type of place we want to highlight.

Situated on Village Road, which is just off of Route 27, the Trails End Steakhouse sits hidden from plain sight in the small Maine town of Eustis.

Eustis, which borders the shores of famous Flagstaff Lake, doesn't have a whole lot going on. Home to Cathedral Pines Campground, a small take-out style gas station called Pines Market and a great view of the nearby mountain range, the town boasts a population of only 641 people, according to the US Census Bureau.

Most people in Maine only ever enter the limits of Eustis if they're headed to the campground or they're hauling wood into Canada (Canada is only a few miles down the road).

However, if you ever do find yourself in the absolutely stunning Maine town, and you feel a little rumbly in your tumbly, you need to get your buns over to Trail's End Steakhouse.

From seafood fettuccini alfredo to chicken tenders, potato skins, burgers, and of course, mouthwatering steaks, Trail's End Steakhouse has something for everyone.

And if you find yourself a wee bit parched when you walk through the door, feel free to bypass the tables and belly-up to their small but charming bar.

Not only is the great food, drink and atmosphere reason enough to visit this hidden Maine gem, but we also think that the fact this place is accessible by snowmobile in the wintertime is another terrific reason to plan a mid-winter's visit.
