Since the tragic events of October 25, when a lone gunman opened fire in our resilient city of Lewiston, Maine, our community has been engaged in the challenging process of trying to understand and heal.

As a city and a state, we've joined forces to navigate the journey of repair, processing, and healing. During this time, many folks and local businesses have organized events to raise funds for the victims.

Devils Grove Disc Golf held a massive disc golf tournament this past weekend to help, and boy did people come out in droves!

I was able to chat with Devils Grove owner Alex Olsen, and he told me they had over 300 people over the course of two days take part in this incredible event all for the Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund within the Maine Community Fund.

This L/A Area Response Fund was created in direct response to the tragic events of that day, aiming to help with financial support to those most affected.

Alex told me,

We just hit our 10 years of business. I was born and raised in Lewiston. I’m happy that Devils Grove can help support the Lewiston community and the families.

Alex is proud to be a part of Maine's amazing disc golf community. It is truly remarkable because this business showcases their eagerness to support our city by actively raising funds for those impacted.

As of now, Alex gave me with a ballpark figure of the amount raised, and it stands strong at $26,487! Wow!

This is another example of our resilient city coming together to help each other. This L/A Area Response Fund is an amazing initiative that says that every dollar donated will be directed to individuals affected and the organizations dedicated to helping Lewiston-Auburn through the healing process.
