Bring the Family and Party at This Old Wiscasset, Maine, Jail August 2024
Get ready to party behind bars! Okay, okay, you won't actually be partying in a jail cell, but close enough.
Yes, there really is a family-fun gathering happening at a Maine jail. However, you won't see inmates dressed in orange jumpsuits because this particular Maine jail has been closed down for quite sometime.
According to an article published by The Kennebec Journal, the event, called Jailhouse Rock, is going to be put on by the Lincoln County Historical Association at the former Old Jail in Wiscasset at 133 Federal Street.
The party begins on Saturday, August 10th, at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. The Lincoln County Historical Association says that there will be loads of activities for people of all ages including lawn games, live music and different kinds of races.
The Lincoln County Historical Association has joined forces with Wiscasset Partners in Education to bring the event to the community. Attendees can choose to bring their own picnic dinner with them or purchase one on the grounds.
Food options will include rainbow slaw, pulled pork sandwiches, mac and cheese and a beverage all for just $8 bucks. The event is also super-affordable costing adults just $5 to attend with children getting in for free.
Now you don't have to purchase your tickets in advance, however the Lincoln County Historical Association would like anyone who is able to pre-register so that organizers have some idea as to how many people will be showing up and how many supplies they will need to have on hand.
Attendees also need not worry about the weather as these events are going to be held rain or shine, however, if it looks like rain, it may behoove you to bring an umbrella along.
Ooohh, that's a fun word to say... behoove. Say it with me now, won't you? Ready? "Behoove". Wasn't that fun? I know it was.
