Okay, this is actually such a cute Maine story because Chase isn't just a cat who happens to live at a campground, he basically has a job there.

Meet Chase, the Kampground Cat

If you've ever stayed at Augusta West Kampground in Winthrop, Maine, there's a chance you've met one of its most important residents: Chase.

Chase is the campground cat, and from the looks of it, he takes that title pretty seriously. He wanders around visiting campsites, greets campers, hangs around the camp store, watches the boats on the lake and, of course, finds plenty of places to nap in the sun.

Basically, he's living the Maine summer life we all want.

And apparently Chase has had enough campground adventures over the years that his humans, Brittany and Kale Malmsten, realized they could turn them into something even bigger.

From Campground Cat to Children's Book

A few years ago, Brittany and Kale came up with the idea of turning Chase's adventures into a children's book series. Life got busy and the idea was put on the back burner, but they never completely let it go.

Now it's officially real.

The Adventures of Chase the Kampground Cat: Opening Day has been released, with the real Chase inspiring the main character and Augusta West Kampground providing the setting.

The pages follow Chase doing what he does best: checking on campers, making new friends and, naturally, stretching himself across paperwork when everyone else is trying to work.

Even better? This is apparently only the beginning, with more Chase adventures and books planned for the series.
