Put on Your Santa Suit for This Hallowell, Maine, Santacon Celebration for a Good Cause
You’re grabbing a drink at a cozy central Maine bar this winter when the door opens and a burst of cold air slips in, along with what looks like every Santa in Central Maine. Within seconds, the room fills with laughter, jingling bells, and brilliantly creative costumes, and you realize you’ve just walked into one of Hallowell’s most spirited new holiday traditions.
Looking for a reason to throw on a Santa suit, meet up with friends, and spread some cheer, all while helping local families?
Hallowell’s second annual Santacon 2025 is happening on Saturday, December 20, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This growing tradition brings Hallowell’s downtown to life. Each December, the streets fill with Santas, elves, or any holiday character you can imagine.
From classic suits to hilarious, over-the-top costumes, you can’t help but smile when you walk into a Hallowell bar and see it packed wall-to-wall with Santas.
The event kicks off at The Quarry Tap Room before the crowd heads out for a festive Santacon bar crawl to other downtown favorites like The Maine House, Burano’s, Easy Street, and more. Each stop adds its own warmth, energy, and holiday spirit, and seeing groups of Santas weaving through downtown is becoming a sight locals look forward to each year.

Charitable giving is at the heart of the event. Contributions support Wreaths Across America and home-heating assistance for a chosen Hallowell family. Last year, the event raised an impressive $1,000, and organizers hope to top that amount in 2025.
If you’re anywhere near Hallowell on December 20th, this is the perfect excuse to suit up, gather your friends, and enjoy downtown while giving back to your community.
Join the Santacon, help spread holiday cheer, and be part of a growing Hallowell tradition that’s all about fun, community, and generosity.
