For example, the town of Millinocket is home to a three-story atrium-style hotel, formerly called "The Atrium," now known as the "Katahdin Inn."

This hotel features a massive center space complete with an in-ground, indoor pool, hot tub, attached bar and pool tables.

The coolest thing about this little-known hotel is that all of the hotel's rooms actually surround the entire atrium. That means, if you have a room on the third floor, you have a large sliding window in your room that opens up to look down on all the happenings in the atrium

I remember going there many times as a kid when dad and I would take our annual trip to the famous Golden Road region of Maine. It brings back loads of memories just thinking about it.
