8 Things That Can Only Be Found in Augusta, Maine
When it comes to different towns and cities and Maine, each is home to their own unique landmarks, businesses and places to visit.
For example, the town of Millinocket is home to a three-story atrium-style hotel, formerly called "The Atrium," now known as the "Katahdin Inn."
This hotel features a massive center space complete with an in-ground, indoor pool, hot tub, attached bar and pool tables.
The coolest thing about this little-known hotel is that all of the hotel's rooms actually surround the entire atrium. That means, if you have a room on the third floor, you have a large sliding window in your room that opens up to look down on all the happenings in the atrium
I remember going there many times as a kid when dad and I would take our annual trip to the famous Golden Road region of Maine. It brings back loads of memories just thinking about it.
Other notable towns with popular and unique places to visit include Portland, Presque Isle, Bethel, Kennebunk, South Berwick, Camden, Ashland, Bryant Pond and many more.
However, what about the place that so many of us call home?
Of course, I am talking about Maine's historic city, and the capital, Augusta.
Augusta isn't the busiest, the most populous or even the "most central" city in Maine.
However, despite all of that, there are still many things that make the city of Augusta, Maine, well worth a visit whether you've lived here all your life or you're stopping in for a weekend.
