When Do Maine, New Hampshire, & Massachusetts ‘Fall Back’ in 2024?
Unless you really love winter activities, you probably prefer the warmer months to the colder ones.
While there are a lot of great things about summer in Maine, my personal favorite part of the season is how long the days are. As a guy who gets up early and works long hours, it is nice to have daylight when I go to work, and have some sunshine left when I leave.
Even though there are some great events that take place in the fall, I am still not looking forward to the return to daylight standard time.
What is the History of Time Change?
According to the Time and Date website, the first people to use a time change to change the amount of daylight they had were the residents of Port Arthur, Ontario. A few hundred people started changing their clocks in July of 1908.
During the First World War, several countries, including Germany and the UK, implemented daylight saving time to conserve resources. Many of those countries stopped using daylight saving time after the war. However, it was reintroduced in the next few decades, and had (for the most part) been implemented again by the Second World War.
According to a post on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics website, the United States official implemented a time change in 1966. At that point, daylight savings time started in early April and lasted until late October. In the early 2000s, those times were adjusted. Now, it runs from about the middle of March until early November.

When Do We Set Our Clocks Back in 2024?
According to NJ.com, we set our clocks back early on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
In most cases, our clocks automatically adjust themselves for daylight savings time. For older devices that don't change time automatically, we can simply use a piece of electrical tape to make the problem go away.
