According to an article on the WABI website, Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk was a massive success.

The event collected more than $10,000 for breast cancer research.

The community really showed up for this annual event, now in its 31st year.  The event brought together survivors, families, friends, local businesses, and hospital staff.  The goal each year is simple: remind everyone how important regular breast cancer screenings and mammograms are.

This year’s walk raised more than $10,000, with every dollar going toward mammograms, equipment, and other services to help enhance care at Northern Light Women’s Health in Pittsfield.

“We’re so grateful for everyone who joined us for this community tradition, from longtime supporters to first-time participants,” said Jen Castonguay, director of Ancillary Services at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, who’s been coordinating the event for 20 years. “Every step taken today brings education and resources to those who need it most. The money raised helps us support women who might not otherwise get screened. That matters, because when cancer is found early, care can start sooner—and that can make all the difference.”

A social media post from the hospital says, in part:

THIS is the power of community! More than 100 walkers and volunteers joined us for today's Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and together raised over $10,500. What an incredible day!
Funds raised support women's healthcare and improve access to screening right here in Pittsfield. Our patients will benefit so much from your generosity. Thank you!

Women who are overdue for a mammogram are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at HERE or by visiting your local hospital.
