Iconic Oceanside Maine Town Named Top 4th of July Destination
For many people, the 4th of July is the real kickoff to summer.
Yes, we normally have summer-like weather before the Independence Day holiday, but it just does not feel like summer until you've seen a parade, eaten a charred red snapper, and watched the fireworks.
Right?
While we have some amazing places to celebrate the 4th of July here in Maine, there is one particular destination that really stands out.
Old Orchard Beach Named a Top Place to Celebrate the 4th of July
According to a press release from car rental company SIXT, Old Orchard Beach has been named the 6th best small town to celebrate Independence Day.
The list was determined by looking at several factors, including how long the fireworks display typically lasts, the number of people who visit the town for fireworks, and the number of local businesses in the area.
The press release explains that about 75,000 people crowd the beach each year to check out the town's spectacular 4th of July fireworks display. While visitors are in town for the holiday, they can visit about 200 locally-owned businesses. These include amusement parks, restaurants, bars, shops, tattoo parlors, and more.
We completely agree with their selection of Old Orchard Beach as one of the top small towns to celebrate the 4th of July. Between the beach, Palace Playland, the beach bars, and amazing restaurants, OOB is really iconic.
Other Great Small Towns to Visit For the 4th of July
The top spot on their list went to Bristol, Rhode Island. The town of 22,000 people boasts a half hour long fireworks display that is attended by 200,000 people.
Other entries on the list include Saint Augustine, Florida, Blue Ash, Ohio, Addison, Texas, and Idaho Falls, Idaho.
