Halloween in New England has changed a lot in the last few decades.

In the 1980s and 1990s, kids dressed up and went trick-or-treating. In the 2020s, most trick-or-treating is done in the form of trunk-or-treats or big community events, like Augusta's Trick-or-Treat on Water Street.

In the '80s and '90s, haunted houses were kind of rare. Sure, some organizations, like non-profits and churches, did put on haunted houses, but they are nothing like the haunted attractions we see today.

These days, theme parks and horror enthusiasts are putting on some unbelievable haunted attractions.
