Scoot over Maple Sunday, there's a new Maine obsession in town.

Maine is the world's largest producer of wild blueberries. The worlds! But before 2021, Maine never had its own weekend to go hog wild for the wild blueberry! Personally, there is such a huge difference between wild blueberries and cultivated blueberries, that basic blueberries are just meh.

You can tour wild blueberry farms during Maine's Wild Blueberry Weekend on August 5 and 6. Even pick (and nibble) berries at some locations. Try something new to eat or drink. If you have company coming, and you've stuffed yourself with lobster, try some new tradition that is blue and so good for you! It happens rain or shine (and this year, who the hell knows what it will be)!

Wild blueberries are loaded with good-for-you stuff. Fiber, minerals, and antioxidants!

Visit Maine says that according to Wyman’s of Maine, a cup of wild blueberries provides 200% DV of manganese (a trace mineral that plays an important role in bone development and other body functions), 25% of your daily fiber, and more antioxidants than most other fruits. The blue color is chock-full of anthocyanins, which are lauded for powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, fighting free radicals (bad molecules), and helping you age gracefully. Well, at least health-wise.
