Here's a fun fact. According to News Center Maine in 2017, Maine was named the number one pet-friendly state in the country. The Safeway security company gave Maine the top honor for its 76 dog-friendly beaches and nearly 1,000 pet-friendly hotels. Pet hotels? That's a new one to me.

People in Maine though love their dogs. Speaking of News Center, anchor Amanda Hill is a dog lover and recently spent the night at the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland rooming with this pup to help raise money for the shelter.

And then there's News Center Maine's Lee Goldberg who not only has eight kids, but also five dogs. That's right. FIVE! You'll get a look at two of them in this News Center Maine promo.

Mainers sure love their dogs, all through the good times and the bad times. It's one of those bad times that Binga's in Windham had to share on their sign, and it's one that every dog owner has to deal with at some point in their lives. I'm sure they all feel exactly like the person who put this message up on their message board over the weekend.

Ain't it the truth? Not to get gross here, but we had a dog growing up who thought the cat litter box was a buffet. Yet trying to get that dog to take a pill was a nightmare. Even if you crushed it up and mixed it with her dog food, she could still smell that something was wrong with it and wouldn't touch it.

Watch Gordon Ramsey flip out with all sorts of obscenities and imagine that's your dog yelling at you in its head because it refuses to take that pill.

RANKED: Here Are the 63 Smartest Dog Breeds

Does your loyal pup's breed make the list? Read on to see if you'll be bragging to the neighbors about your dog's intellectual prowess the next time you take your fur baby out for a walk. Don't worry: Even if your dog's breed doesn't land on the list, that doesn't mean he's not a good boy--some traits simply can't be measured.

25 Things That Mainers Have to Explain to People From Far Away

Mainers have to explain a lot to people from far away. Here is what they have to mention often.
