How Did New England Do In WalletHub’s Happiest Cities Report?
How do you think New England cities ranked in WalletHub’s "Happiest Cities in America" report for 2018? Well, none of them landed in the top 40, according to this financial website. This is out of 182 U.S. cities.
As you can see in the above map, Portland, Maine is an above-average happy city, landing at number 44. That's a significant drop from last year, when Portland ranked at 24.
Burlington, Vermont is the next happiest New England city at number 52. Boston, Massachusetts is 63. You'll find Nashua, New Hampshire further down the list at 83. Warwick, Rhode Island comes in at number 95.
In case you're wondering, Fremont, California is at the top of the list. Fremont ranked high in emotional and physical well-being, income and employment, along with community and environment.
The researchers looked at factors that make people happy, such as life and work satisfaction, job/financial security, stress levels, vacation time and strength of relationships.
