
How We’re Trying to Evict a Hornet Colony in Maine
So my wife and I have officially reached that stage of homeownership… where it’s us against the hornets.
This has been going on for 2-3 years now and these guys have been camping out in the eaves of our home like they pay rent. We haven't seen a penny.
Just, flying in and out, boldly, making little hornet eye contact. And if you've ever made eye contact with a hornet, it's time to type up your last will and testament.
How To Get Rid of Entire Hornet Colony in Maine
Apparently this ones on us, because this winter we were supposed to "take care of them" like the Godfather, while they were hibernating. You know, when they are dormant, and vulnerable.
Did we do that? No. We plum forgot.
So now it’s May, and they’re fully awake, organized, and pissed off because they know we don't like them.
So last night, my wife, Nelly snaps. She's had it. She hit her limit and what happens next is when I realized she truly means business. She ties on a bandana, like full ninja, and goes into the kitchen like she’s about to cook… but no. She’s making poison potion.
Not a spray. Not something from the store. A potion.
She found this dude on YouTube named Zen Garden Oasis, always a strong start, who’s like, “Yeah, mix this borax concoction, it’ll take out the whole colony.”
That's when we came up with hornicide. I understand it feels aggressive, but there is so many of them.
We’ve now got this little plastic bottle of doom hanging outside under their apartment.

Right now, it's a waiting game.. and the hornets? Completely unfazed. Flying around like, “Oh look the girls started a craft project again.”
