In big national news this week, longtime department store giant Sears has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. And as a result, we'll be seeing some stores in Northern New England closing for good. According to USA Today, Sears Holdings will be closing a total of 142 unprofitable stores across the country. On the list of stores closing are a Maine location, and a New Hampshire one. In Maine, residents of Madawaska will be disappointed to see that the Kmart at 417 Main St. will soon be closing its doors. And in the Granite State, folks can say goodbye to the Sears in Portsmouth on Fox Run Rd.

It'll be sad to see these stores go. And a little hard to believe, considering the strength and longevity of the Sears brand. But time are changing, with more and more people opting to do their shopping online. Will you miss these Sears and Kmart locations? Let us know, with a comment on the Facebook post!
