Help Veterans and Honor a Fallen NH Air Force Captain With a Fun Ride

We're so fortunate to have so many coastal roads around us in Northern New England, whether we're in Maine or New Hampshire. Add to that some amazing scenic mountain roads, and it's no real surprise that one of the more popular fundraisers in our area is motorcycle rides. For the second year in a row, a motorcycle ride will happen in honor of fallen New Hampshire Air Force Captain, Ryan Phaneuf.

What is Ryan's Ride?

Back in January 2020, according to WMUR, Air Force Captain Ryan Phaneuf, who is from Hudson, New Hampshire, was on board a plane that crashed in Afghanistan. A few months later in June 2020, the very first "Ryan's Ride" motorcycle fundraising event was put on in his honor.

What is the Hometown Heroes Foundation?

"Ryan's Ride" is put on in conjunction with the Homeland Heroes Foundation, which is based out of Salem, New Hampshire and focused on helping veterans, active duty service members, and their families with their re-acclimation to home and civilian life -- whether that's through providing furniture, gas cards, food -- anyway the Homeland Heroes Foundation can help, they do.

Even though this is the second consecutive year of Ryan's Ride, it will be the 5th motorcycle ride in general that Homeland Heroes Foundation will have put on to raise funds to continue helping veterans. A portion of the proceeds raised, too, will also go to the Ryan Phaneuf Scholarship Fund.

When and where is Ryan's Ride?

Ryan's Ride goes down on Sunday, June 27. Registration and a breakfast is provided starting at 9a at the A.J. Letizio Enterprise Center in Windham, New Hampshire. Then at 11a, riders will hop on their bikes and take the 45 minute ride over to Hampton Beach and settle in at Wally's Pub for lunch and live entertainment provided by the Chris Fitz band.

Tickets are $25 and donations are being accepted on the Ryan's Ride website if you can't make the ride but still want to help. Be safe, riders!
