As we are only a few weeks away from the official kickoff to summer, there is no time like the present to start planning all of those adventures you are going to have with the family.  Maine has so much to offer during the summer months.  We've got beaches, amusement parks, agricultural fairs, and lots of festivals.  So many festivals!

One of our favorites has got to be the Great Falls Balloon Festival.  The event, which takes over the Lewiston / Auburn area each August gives the public a chance to see, and ride in, hot air balloons.  How cool is that!?

While the balloons are clearly the focal point for the event, it is only a part of all that goes on that weekend.

There's plenty of food, including a big pancake breakfast on the Saturday and Sunday of the event.  There's also a big parade, lots of live music, and more.

The event provides a massive bump to the area's economy, too.  About 100,000 visit the Lewiston  / Auburn area to either fly a balloon, fly in a balloon, or just to see the balloons.

Overall, the event's intention is to raise money for local non-profits.  Last year, the event raised well over $80,000 for local charities.

2023 will mark the 29th time they have done the event.  This year's event will take place from Friday August 18th through Sunday August 20th.

If you are planning to take a ride in one of the balloons, don't wait too long to book your spot.  They fill up quick!  They are not cheap, either.  The price per person is $250 but it is an experience you will never forget.  Get details HERE
