George Michael Was Very First ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Guest
George Michael died on Christmas Day... Horribly ironic that it was his "Last Christmas," because Michael hasn't been in the spotlight for a while. So, the only time I remember George Michael's musical artistry is at Christmas time, when I hear his song on the radio.
Most people probably don't know (I didn't) that George Michael may have inspired James Corden's wildly popular "Carpool Karaoke" skit. Corden says he created the segment for the British charity Comic Relief in 2011, long before he started hosting the Late Late Show.
According to The Huffington Post, the sketch "gave birth to Carpool Karaoke, a phenomenon that has gone on to include Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Madonna, Justin Bieber and even First Lady Michelle Obama. And it all started with George."
