Father and Daughter Team Spread Joy in Dover, NH With Painted Stones
A father and daughter team is spreading some joy in the city of Dover with their painted stones.
Resident Derek Demeter said his seven-year-old daughter, Tessa, started painting rocks mid-summer. She asked Demeter if she could sell them so he created a Facebook post about it.
People jumped all over the idea, Demeter said. One person offered to pay $10 so Tessa could give 10 to people.
On Monday, Tessa was able to hide the nine stones seen in the photo above, plus a bonus surprise stone for someone to find.
"I thought it was really fun. It was a good way to spread some happiness to people," Demeter said on Thursday morning.
Demeter posted about the rocks on The (un)Official City of Dover's Facebook page.
People were sharing pictures online of where they found the hidden rocks. The post has 258 responses and 35 comments.
Sara Rochefort said she was hiding the stone she found in another spot, while Caitlyn Morgan said she was leaving the "Love" one where it was for the next person.
Demeter gives his wife, Micaela, credit for helping to make the memories special.
Demeter said all the stones were originally placed in the downtown area of Dover.
