Enjoy Breathtaking Fall Views Via Chairlift At Camden Snow Bowl
As much as I love summer, I truly enjoy fall in New England as well. Sure, it's a little more crisp but toss on a sweater and it's probably the best season to recreate. There's less bugs, the air is easy to breath and the the sights, sounds, and smells are spectacular!
Along the mid-coast, one of my favorite things to do in October is get together some friends and family and head to the Camden Snow Bowl for the annual "Chairlift Rides" up Ragged Mountain.
Each Sunday in October, the 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st and one Saturday, Oct 9th, you can ride the chairlift up the mountain and take in the breathtaking views of the pristine Camden Hills with all the fall foliage colors in peak splendor.
The chair lift runs slower than it does during the winter, about 2 mph, so you really can take it the amazing beauty all around you. The ride one way takes about 22 minutes, you disembark at the top and can enjoy the marvelous views from many directions. Once you've had your fill, hop back on the chairlift, and enjoy the trip back down the mountain, or if you want a little adventure, you can hike down also. There are trail maps at the top and bottom of the mountain.
The chairlift rides run from 10am-2pm, and the cost is $10 per person, with kids 5 and under free. There are no reservations and tickets are only available on site at the Camden Snow Bowl, 20 Barnestown Road in Camden.
If you get there a little early, you can also indulge in a
lovely pancake breakfast that runs from 8:30am-10:30am, with a suggested $5 donation, with all the proceeds going to the Ragged Mountain Ski Club, which supports several great kids programs in the area.
