According to WGME, the Po-Po is on patrol and keeping impaired drivers off Maine roads.

"Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" is a push to save lives, by taking drunk and drugged drivers off Maine's roads and creating a presence that makes people think twice before getting behind the wheel while impaired.

Expect to see overtime patrols with a zero tolerance approach.

  • ANY amount of alcohol can impair your ability to drive
  • DUI's are pricey too, legal fees and fines for a conviction can reach $10,000
  • Nearly 10,500 people were killed by drunk drivers in 2016

The  Bureau of Highway Safety says you can reduce your risk for drunk driving by having a plan:

  • Find a Designated Driver
  • Plan to Uber, Lyft or take a cab
  • Plan to spend the night
  • Watch out for others and report drivers that you suspect could be impaired, you could save a life.
  • You remember the slogan, "Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk"? It's a good one. Don't let an impaired friend drive.
