Did You Know That The Biggest Snowman Ever Was Made In Maine?
People who have lived in Maine for a while probably remember this, but if you're like me, and have only lived here for a few years, you might not know. Back in 2008, some folks in Bethel, Maine set the Guinness World Record for the world's tallest snowman ever built. And twelve years later, it appears that the record still stands.
At 122 feet tall, it was only less than thirty feet shorter than the Statue of Liberty.
She sported a scarf that was more than one hundred feet long. And her buttons were snow tires.
But here's what makes it even more interesting: the "snowman" actually wasn't even a man at all. It was a snow WOMAN! She was named "Olympia," after Maine's then U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe.
Take a trip back in time to 2008, and watch the video below for an in depth look at the people who created Olympia, the world tallest snowperson ever built.
